This is what it looks like to live “off the grid” in the United States

How far would you be willing to go to minimize your impact on the planet?

Photographer Eric Valli has assembled an absolutely stunning series of images, documenting the lives of people who have decided to live out their lives “Off the Grid.” Valli says he spent a number of years living with four different groups, each one living at a different degree of separation from society.

Writes Valli:

There are growing number of people
who have decided to live light on the earth
to not be a part of problem anymore
I spent the last few years with four of them
striving for harmony with nature
in the most pristine corners of United States.

We’ve included a few examples below, but you’ll want to check out Valli’s site for the entire series. [Spotted on boingboing]

after seeing some very controversial comments about this on my dashboard i thought id actually read into this abit more before assuming PETA were actually doing these things, what i discovered was FAR worse than i had ever imagined, last year alone 1,911 pets were killed and only 24 re-homed, with a budget of $37.4 million i think this is sickening that claims are being made that they dont have the money, making excuses that they dont want people to keep animals as pets or as a food source is fucking pathetic, my dog is far happier on my lap than dead.

There is never an excuse.

kitties noooo :(
